Nouns
In German, all nouns are either
masculine, feminine or neuter. This
is called their gender. The words
for “the” and “a” show the gender.
“The” is der with masculine nouns,
die with feminine nouns and das
with neuter nouns. “A” is ein with
masculine and neuter nouns, and
eine with feminine nouns. In
German, nouns are always written
with a capital first lett
